Dear Members of the SAU 70 School Board,
We, the undersigned, are writing to express strong opposition to SAU 70’s participation in the lawsuit against the New Hampshire Department of Education. While we understand the complexities surrounding educational policy and funding, our concern lies primarily with the lack of transparency and public involvement in the decision to join this legal action.
As members of the Hanover community, we believe that significant decisions, such as engaging in a lawsuit with potential far-reaching implications for our schools and taxpayers, should involve robust public discussion and input. The decision to participate in this lawsuit was made without adequate public forums, notifications, or opportunities for community members to voice their perspectives. This lack of engagement undermines the trust and accountability that should define our school district’s decision-making process.
We urge the Board to reconsider its involvement in the lawsuit and to prioritize transparent, inclusive processes moving forward. At minimum, we request that the Board hold a public meeting to explain the rationale for joining the lawsuit, disclose its potential costs and impacts, and allow community members to provide feedback.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your response and to greater community involvement in future decisions of this magnitude.
Sincerely,
