We are not against cars. They do have their utility. But why privatise most of the public space in our commune for those cars that make our streets quite dangerous for our kids? Can’t we share this public space?
The World Health Organization has recommended in their new technical guidance of 21 April: “Whenever feasible, consider riding bicycles or walking to move yourself during the COVID-19 outbreak.“
The city of Brussels understood that and decided to limit speed to 20km/h within the pentagon and allow pedestrians, runners, bicycles to freely use the public roads. Cars can drive but very carefully as they don’t have the priority anymore. Once those cars reach a large avenue, they can again have priority and drive freely.
We are asking you to apply the same rule in the street of Schaerbeek that are already limited to 30km/h.
Let’s put back life and citizens in the center of our neighbourhoods and of our commune 🌱 😊
