Subject: Clarity, Accountability, and the Commitment to Host House of Challenge in Haiti
Dear Bovan, Jojo, and the entire House of Challenge team,
I am writing this open letter because there is currently too much incomplete information, conflicting messaging, and uncertainty surrounding the next edition of House of Challenge and Haiti. That confusion needs to be addressed openly and respectfully.
This is not written out of hatred or disrespect. It comes from a community that invested its time, energy, emotions, and hard-earned money into supporting Ariana and Haiti throughout the competition.
The Haitian community deserves clarity.
The rules and expectations must be clear
Our understanding throughout the competition was simple: the country represented by the winner would host the following edition of House of Challenge.
Ariana represented Haiti.
Ariana won.
Therefore, based on that understanding, Haiti earned the opportunity to host the next House of Challenge.
If that understanding is incorrect, House of Challenge should publicly provide the official rule and explain it. But if that was indeed the rule or commitment communicated to supporters, then it should not now be presented as though bringing House of Challenge to Haiti is simply a favor being extended to Haitians.
Haitians did not accidentally arrive at this moment.
Thousands of people rallied behind Ariana. People shared, promoted, voted, participated, mobilized communities, and spent their hard-earned money because they believed in her and wanted Haiti to succeed.
Whatever disagreements or controversies occurred during the competition, Ariana ultimately won.
That victory should be respected.
Haitians remember what happened during the competition
There is also something that should not be ignored.
Many Haitian supporters came away from the competition believing that Ariana faced obstacles and that there were moments when the process did not appear favorable to her.
Whether House of Challenge agrees with that interpretation or not, that perception exists.
Instead of dismissing it, transparency can resolve it.
This is why the messaging surrounding Haiti today matters so much.
Please do not rewrite the story as though Haiti was simply selected because the organization always intended to come there. If hosting rights resulted from Ariana's victory under the competition's rules, then simply say so.
There is nothing wrong with saying:
“Ariana won. Haiti earned the opportunity to host. Now we are working together to make it successful.”
That would eliminate much of the confusion.
Visas, travel arrangements and government responsibilities
We also need greater precision regarding visas.
House of Challenge should publicly explain exactly what immigration or transit difficulties it anticipates for its staff and participants and which governments or consular authorities control those requirements.
Travel documents, Haitian entry requirements, and any necessary transit visas are separate matters and can depend on a traveler's nationality and route. Therefore, broad statements suggesting that the Haitian government simply needs to “give everybody visas” can create more confusion than clarity.
The organizers and individual travelers should take responsibility for preparing passports, applications, supporting documentation, transit requirements, and other ordinary travel arrangements applicable to them.
Where Haitian authorities have a lawful role in issuing entry documents or providing official information, they should of course perform that role.
And once an international production is operating in Haiti, coordination with Haitian authorities regarding security and public safety is entirely legitimate and important.
But these responsibilities should not be mixed together.
If there is a specific visa problem, tell the Haitian public:
Which nationality is affected?
Which visa is required?
Which country must issue it?
Is it a Haitian entry visa or a transit visa?
What exactly has been requested from Haitian authorities?
Facts will eliminate rumors.
Port-au-Prince is not all of Haiti
Security concerns must also be taken seriously. No responsible person should minimize Haiti's security challenges.
But Haiti cannot be reduced entirely to Port-au-Prince.
Haiti has ten geographic departments, and different areas face different conditions and logistical realities.
If one location cannot safely accommodate an international production, then the responsible response is to examine alternatives.
Could another department host it?
Could several departments participate?
Could activities be distributed among secure locations?
Could international security professionals, Haitian authorities, local communities, hotels, transportation providers, medical services and production teams develop an appropriate plan?
Those are the conversations we should be having.
Security should be treated as a problem requiring serious planning—not as a slogan for either pretending there is no risk or declaring the entire country impossible.
Haiti's supporters made a real investment
Please understand something important about the Haitian community.
The support behind Ariana was not imaginary.
People sacrificed.
People spent money they worked hard to earn.
People stayed online for hours.
People mobilized friends and family.
People promoted House of Challenge to audiences who previously knew little or nothing about it.
And they did so because they believed that their participation mattered.
That relationship deserves respect.
This is precisely why uncertainty surrounding the next edition can damage trust.
Supporters should never feel that after investing heavily to help a contestant win under one understanding, the conditions are suddenly changing after the victory.
We are asking for transparency—not rumors
Therefore, this open letter respectfully asks Bovan, Jojo, and House of Challenge to provide a clear public statement answering several basic questions:
Is House of Challenge 2027 officially committed to Haiti? What conditions remain outstanding? What are the actual visa issues? What security requirements must be satisfied? What responsibilities belong to House of Challenge, and what assistance is being requested from Haitian authorities? What milestones must occur before the organization considers Haiti definitively confirmed?
Put the information on the table.
Let everyone see it.
That protects House of Challenge just as much as it protects the Haitian community.
A final message from the Haitian community
Haitians should never be underestimated.
Our community demonstrated what collective action can accomplish when people unite behind something they believe in.
But that strength should now be used constructively.
If House of Challenge fulfills its commitment to Haiti, Haitians should work with the organization to make the event successful, safe, welcoming, culturally powerful, and unforgettable.
If circumstances genuinely make part of the original plan impossible, explain those circumstances transparently and provide the evidence and alternatives.
What should not happen is ambiguity, shifting explanations, or language that leaves supporters wondering whether a commitment made during the competition is quietly disappearing afterward.
And yes, supporters ultimately have the right to decide whether they continue financially supporting or participating in House of Challenge. That decision should be based on transparent information rather than threats, rumors, or misinformation.
Ariana won. Haiti supported her. The Haitian community invested. Now the community deserves clarity about what comes next.
We are watching.
We are listening.
And we are ready to work toward a successful House of Challenge in Haiti—provided everyone approaches the table with transparency, respect, accountability, and good faith.
