Dear Walthamstow Trades Hall Committee,
We, the undersigned members, have received information regarding the proposed refurbishments to the club’s main hall. We understand that the committee has voted on a number of decor items, including changes to the main hall's wallpaper, stage curtain and paint.
We understand that much of the decoration has already been ordered, without input from the membership. As members of the club, we are concerned that we were not consulted with during this process.
The heritage of our club is of vital importance, a treasure of which any sitting committee are the custodians. As collective owners of the club, we would like to make certain that the proposed refurbishments are in keeping with the character and history of the club. We would also note that there is potential for a redecoration to affect financial opportunities for the club if it reduces our ability to hire out to film/television/photography companies.
It is our wish that the committee undertake a consultation with the membership over the design plan and seek the input of professional or expert advisors.
We formally ask for an EGM at which the committee will respond to this letter. We ask that no redecoration happens before doing this.
We eagerly await your response.
