An Open Letter to Nintendo: Preserve Mario Kart Tour

To Nintendo and everyone who believes games deserve to be preserved,

We understand that live service games eventually come to an end.

This letter is not asking Nintendo to keep Mario Kart Tour's servers online forever.

Instead, we are asking Nintendo to preserve a game that millions of players supported for nearly seven years.

For many of us, Mario Kart Tour was more than just a mobile game. It became part of our daily lives. We invested thousands of hours, built collections, completed challenges, made friends, and, in many cases, financially supported the game through Gold Pass and in-game purchases.

Today, we have learned that when the service ends, everything will simply disappear. No offline mode. No access to our collections. No way to revisit the game we spent years building. No preservation.

We believe there is a better way.

Nintendo has already shown that preserving a mobile game is possible with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. While we understand that Mario Kart Tour presents different technical challenges, we hope Nintendo will consider a similar approach.

We respectfully ask Nintendo to consider one of the following:

This is about more than Mario Kart Tour.

The gaming industry is increasingly built around digital purchases and live service experiences. Players are encouraged to invest years of their time and money into games that can disappear overnight.

We believe consumers deserve better preservation of the experiences they support.

This is not a request for permanent servers.

It is a request for respect.

Respect for the community that kept Mario Kart Tour alive.

Respect for the time players invested.

Respect for the money players spent.

Respect for the memories players created.

For decades, Nintendo has built its reputation by creating games that people cherish for generations.

We hope that legacy also includes preserving them.

If you believe Mario Kart Tour deserves a better farewell, we invite you to add your name to this letter.
