Dear World,
As you read this, my homeland, Bangladesh, is on fire.
We, the Bangladeshi students, have been protesting peacefully against the controversial quota system of the government, which reserves more than half of the jobs in the public sector for specific groups, including the children of freedom fighters. Many of these "freedom fighters" who derive benefits from the state are fake; they never fought for our independence in the first place.
Whether or not the freedom fighters are genuine, this quota system is unacceptable, and our agitation is justified.
We are being violently attacked by the Bangladesh Chhatro League (BCL), the student wing of the Awami League, the ruling party of Bangladesh. The culprits are backed by the law-enforcing agencies and the government itself, and many of us are being injured and killed at their hands, simply for demanding justice and equality.
The autocratic government is desperately trying to suppress our voices. The situation is getting worse, and we need your help.
Don't let them silence us.
Please look up "Quota Reform Movement Bangladesh 2024." Talk about it, spread the news, and stand with Bangladesh.
With hope,
An agonized Bangladeshi student
