Swipe Left on Silence: A Demand for Fairness on Hinge and Tinder

To the Hinge Team, the Tinder Team and the Match Group,

We are writing this letter not just as banned users, but as people—people who feel hurt, dismissed, and silenced by a system that refuses to treat us with basic fairness and humanity. One by one, we were removed from your platform with no warning, no explanation, and no real chance to appeal fairly. And when we asked why, we were met not with compassion, but with copy-paste replies and automated denials.

This letter includes not only those who remain banned, but also those who were unbanned after Hinge admitted it had made a mistake. Because even when a ban is reversed, the emotional harm, the confusion, and the feeling of being erased without cause doesn’t simply disappear. It reveals how flawed and impersonal the current system is—and how urgently it needs to change.

We are not here to lash out. We are here to speak up. Because something is broken. The appeal process is not a conversation—it’s a wall. And behind that wall are real people who deserve answers.

Many of us, like myself, have treated every person we interacted with on your platform with kindness and respect. We have not violated the values your platform claims to uphold. And yet we are being punished in silence—locked out of one of the only spaces where meaningful connections are made today, without dignity, without reason, and without recourse.

This is not just unfair. It is inhumane.

And in a world where dating has moved almost entirely online, being removed from these platforms without justification is more than just an inconvenience—it’s a major barrier to building real relationships and participating in modern connection.

We are calling on you—Hinge, Tinder, Match Group, and those who lead your Trust & Safety teams—to do better. Review your processes. Bring transparency to your bans. Replace automation with empathy. Give people the respect of being heard, and the chance to correct mistakes—if there even were any.

We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking to be treated like people. Like users who helped build your platform. Like human beings who deserve a voice.

We invite every person who has been banned or wrongfully unbanned after a silent error—and everyone who believes in fairness—to stand with us.

This letter is our voice. And we won’t be quiet anymore.
