The Cessation of Israeli brands in Brown Thomas Stores

To whom it may concern within Brown Thomas,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you today with a matter that is of great importance to me and many others who are concerned about human rights and social justice.

As a patron of your esteemed establishment, I have always admired the careful selection of brands and products that reflect sophistication and quality. However, I recently discovered that your store carries the Israeli Zionist brand Nili Lotan throughout mens and womenswear.

The Zionist movement has been a subject of controversy and criticism due to its role in perpetuating the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories and the ongoing genocide of the people of Gaza and the West Bank. By stocking products from Israeli Zionist brands, your store inadvertently lends support to these practices. The Nili Lotan instagram page itself has expressed its views towards the genocide and has held Israel to hold no faults despite the current death toll of over 28,000 Palestinian women, men and children.

It is also of great disappointment to me that Brown Thomas has failed to hold Palestinian lives of equal importance to Ukrainian lives by rightly fundraising for Ukraine in 2022, however, failing to merely halt the buying of brands that hold very strong racist views linked to Zionism.

I understand that businesses must make decisions based on various factors, including market demand and profitability. However, I urge you to consider the ethical implications of continuing to stock these brands. By doing so, you are implicitly endorsing policies and actions that are in conflict with principles of justice and equality.

Your recent removal of the promotional post for the brand on the instagram page is a move in the right direction. However, I respectfully request that you cease stocking Israeli Zionist brands in your store in aims of preventing any potential boycotts by a great multitude of customers. Instead, I encourage you to explore alternatives from companies that uphold principles of social responsibility and ethical sourcing as you have previously done.

Taking a stand on issues of human rights and justice is not only the right thing to do but also aligns with the values of many of your customers. I believe that by making this change, your store can demonstrate its commitment to ethical business practices and contribute to positive change in the world.

Please find attached a list of signatories to this letter in agreement with the request to cease the stocking of brands linked to Zionism in Brown Thomas stores.

Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding this matter.
