To Vitalii Klitschko,
Head of Kyiv City Council,
We, the undersigned, support the initiative of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to rename Lomonosov street in Kyiv to Yuliia Zdanovska street.
Yuliia Zdanovska, young Ukrainian mathematician, graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, volunteer and teacher, medalist of the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad had been living and studying on the university campus since the age of 14.
There she had spent seven years studying Mathematics and Computer Science, while volunteering and working with talented Ukrainian schoolchildren in her spare time.
After graduation, as a winner of various competitions in mathematics and computer science, Yuliia was able to choose any career path she wanted. She decided to follow her dream and to teach kids and revolutionize education. She was going to teach kids in small towns and villages, who didn’t have the privilege of high-quality education.
When the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine started, Yuliia had been volunteering and assisting the Kharkiv Defense Staff in her hometown. She was killed in shelling by russian forces on March 3, 2022 at the age of 21.
Her last message was “Thank you, but I will stay in Kharkiv until we win”.
We believe in the importance of honoring Yuliia’s memory with a street in her name and are appealing to Kyiv City Council for its support.
