Letter to the Presidents of all Irish Universities on the situation in Gaza

We the undersigned members of Irish Universities and HEI’s condemn all acts of terrorism.

A university community has a particular responsibility to oppose the deliberate destruction of universities and the targeting of academics. We strongly condemn the Israeli government’s destruction of all universities in Gaza and the killing of so many students and academics.

We reiterate the ICJ's requirement that Israel must ‘take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of all acts’ within the scope of Genocide Convention.

Consequently, we urge the Presidents of all Irish universities and HEIs to issue a public statement 1. calling for an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza, echoing the need for justice, accountability, and equal protection of human rights and 2. committing to undertake a review of all ties with Israeli institutions.
